Hammer - and - Tongs

Hammer - and - Tongs

A Poem by Pauline

Wild is the wind tonight

Like a thunderbolt venting anger

Whistling through the hollows

Beating at the rocks

Cutting like a sword as it

Competes with the pelting rain

Pounding - pounding

Across the shore waves leap - thunders roar

Clashes of chlorinated lightening light the sky

Leaves sweep and swirl - filling gutters

Trees are bent this way and that

They will sing no song and earth’s heart

Is locked this night

Hi Chris. It was a real belter alright. We were looking for an early night after driving down. We had three nights of it with three days of the same followed by total sunshine at 39 degrees. Mad isn't it?
Hope you're looking after yourself.♥️

That sounds like quite a storm being whipped up into a frenzy Pauline. You have some ace imagery in this piece. I actually love looking at an angry sea, providing I am behind window glass. Wondering where this was. Lovely to read you again.

I've been writing poetry for some time now. It allows me to escape some of the doldrums of life. I also paint when life allows me some quiet time. I wouldn't say I was great at either passtimes but I.. more..
