Sable Child

Sable Child

A Poem by Pauline

Though hidden by bulking meat

Acid sweat and sour breath

that creeps across your flesh

Sucking you in spitting you out

Robbing your virginity

But never your dignity

Still, your radiance glows.

You carry your beauty high and proud

Even in your camouflaged sorrow

Of bruised sable flesh

Your beauty beams out from you

Bursting through your sorrow

It’s there, always.

Even hidden behind lock and key

You will defeat them

They will not win.
