At Peace

At Peace

A Poem by Pauline

I stare at the reflection of the travelling sun
As it hits the yawning lake
My feet walking toward the shade
Of the beautiful Sycamore tree that
Overlooked many a lover’s first kiss-
And tender secrets shared.
I lay at her root, her arms
Stretching wide, cradling and protecting
Whilst my confused, flurrying mind
Gives itself up, haltingly, to the stillness
That now embraces what is me.
The past has fled and the present
Flits away from moment to moment
And I realize that my knowledge is no
More than a strand of hair in the vastness
Of space.
My senses are now more alert, I smell the scented

air, see the lark on the wing and the
Bee emerging from the wildly scented freesia.
My being, as light as the clouds above me.
i am at peace, a part of nature.

this poem makes me feel at peace.
Sycamores are so beautiful and comforting...like they want to hug us.

Being at one with nature can really lighten the load and help to find a state of peace and calm. The reader'senses are stirred here. Sight, sound and smell. Beautifully visual lines Pauline. I think I am floating :) Good to see a post from you.
