Come In To My Parlour

Come In To My Parlour

A Poem by Pauline

Come into my parlour

Said the dragon to the fly

Come, sit on my tongue where it’s warm

For I’ve a fire burning and the heat is just right

For whipping you up a storm.

I love the bearded dragon lizard of Australia which does what you portrayed in this fine write.

I swear I sat at my pc and this thing wrote itself in ten seconds flat. (Says a lot about my state of mind doesn't it? )Aha.

Well if I was the fly, I think I would decline this invitation and buzz off elsewhere Pauline. Liked the brevity and the build up here. Could relate to this on a human level too :)

I'm very far removed from the pandemic, living in the wilderness, never think about it. But strangely I related your poem to covid, the fly being a mist-bomb from somebody's spit which is infected. Readers assume the dragon is the bad guy, but actually the fly is carrying the deadly dose (((HUGS)))

Aha. I did my share of frying in the past until I got some sense. Or did I?
I really enjoyed this mirth filled little piece of art. For once I actually felt sorry for a fly, which I absolutely detest. Thank you for sharing this poem.
