They Came

They Came

A Poem by Pauline

They Came

Because I was at a loss
Poised in that brown area of solidness
Which dared to glare defiantly,
They came, without asking

Rising from the earth,
Their coiled heads
Gazing this way and that
In an attitude of confidence

As if in answer to my wondering
They took up residence
Laughing in the face of defiance
Entertaining the Japanese Japonica

Nothing was of my own doing
Not a finger was lifted
Nor an implement used
‘Cept maybe a begging prayer.

About
I've been writing poetry for some time now. It allows me to escape some of the doldrums of life. I also paint when life allows me some quiet time. I wouldn't say I was great at either passtimes but I.. more..
