The Art of HappinessA Poem by PaulineHow glorious the noon sun bold That kisses long the marigold And dances o’er aromatic mint To the shaded acer with a mere glint Over the pot where petunias spill Just at the end of the windowsill The shadows stretch in curling scrawls Along the passion flowered walls And laughter shakes the apple trees From that impish devil summer breeze And thinks they’ll fall from his raucous song But they defy him hanging on And beam with reddened skins express There sweet and plump deliciousness And oh those flirty grapes divine Which magically turn themselves to wine Such treasures summer does bestow Long may it reign long may it glow. © 2021 PaulineReviews
