Walking Backwards

Walking Backwards

A Poem by Pauline

Walking backwards through spent time

Down the years of elation

through years of blessedness

Where endless prophecies lie in heaviness

Upon me, as I take to the byways

Crossing the tracks of sentimentality

Hearing those cradle songs gently sung

those hallelujahs’ of eternity.

I follow those endless miles of

Ageless music, harmonious melodies

To love, to joy, to weep,

To leave, then find again with ease.

And I find, on a window of time,

regrets sitting there. Frosted bold

(On this wintry scene of my life)

A gilded coat dressed in fool’s gold.

About
I've been writing poetry for some time now. It allows me to escape some of the doldrums of life. I also paint when life allows me some quiet time. I wouldn't say I was great at either passtimes but I.. more..
