Of Love

Of Love

A Poem by Pauline

What became of love

That once rushed in

Like the creamy gush of the tide?

Ah but then crept out to lay,

like dust,

On an old wooden staircase.

In my musing,

I walk the ancient bridge of language

Where lovers embrace in its kiss

Under the scintillant robe of stars.

Yet, for some, love’s language will fail them

And they too will come to rest

On the tattered pillows of sorrow

And the clock’s hammer

Will fail to strike

Love and time, intermittently

Walk hand in hand

Like the minutes on a clock face

Stopping by but briefly

And so it is that I ask myself

Is it a blessing

Or a hindrance.

'Of Love'
Pauline,
Our very design is to love and be loved; it drives us. Perfect love what is it, where is it? Until we are in that safe place life feels awkward and false strivings become the substitute. Perfect Love can only emanate and has its very source in the creator of all things- universe, creatures, etc. With all the complicated aspects of earth, universe, and humanity nothing else makes any sense. John 4:9 says, “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.” Jesus died and rose again that we might live through Him.

2 Corinthians 5:15 gives us another truth concerning this life Jesus gives us. “And He died for all, that they should not live unto themselves but unto Him who died for them, and rose again.” Jesus also died and rose again that we might live for Him. He died and rose again for us that we might not live for ourselves, but for Him and for others.

I Thessalonians 5:9-10 points out yet a third truth concerning why Jesus died and rose again. “For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.” He died and rose again that we might live with Him. Jesus went through suffering a cruel death, and rose again victoriously so that we might live with Him.

Christ died and rose again that we might live through Him - that’s salvation. He died and rose again that we might live for Him - that’s loving service. And He died and rose again that we might live with Him - that’s life forever. Do you get it? Jesus died and rose again so that you and I might live through Him, and for Him, and with Him. Are you trusting Him as your Savior and Lord?
These words come from a book which was through history widely believed and still this wonderful book teaches and shows those that hunger and thirst for what can fill their emptiness.
Blessings as you live this life and seek what will give true meaning.
Kathy

As I grow older, I too, feel the the clock ticking. Time, our greatest enemy or our greatest asset? Depends on perspective I suppose. Thank you for sharing.
