"Matchstick"

"Matchstick"

A Poem by PaulinaG
"

Most of us have that one "love" that comes, and just like that disappears.

"
I was like a matchstick, one of the million.
Just sitting in a box with no purpose. But then, then I met you.
You danced into my life with a spark, you brought me to life.
I finally realized my purpose, my sole existence was to hold you.
To have you so close to me and I smiled because I was made for you.
As time progressed you became more complicated.
You were fire, I couldn't understand your reasoning.
So you began to spread rapidly, now no longer could I sustain you.
You consumed my everything, now it was you who was holding me.
Once you noticed I was useless to you, you left me.
You left me completely burned out.
Nothing was left but ashes.
Now I realize I was only made to have you momentarily.
You are fire, no can contain or hold you.
You burn and destroy everything.
You leave behind ashes and broken hearts.
But for a short moment you were beautifully burning so bright.
