Kitchen Wall

Kitchen Wall

A Poem by Pauline Marie Daley

Standing at the kitchen wall,

You stand staring at me.

Waiting for you to start to walk,

Along the wall with me.

We'll walk a little farther,

As I look into your eyes,

Our hands will join together,

And slowly will our lives.

Will you walk along the wall with me?

Walk to the other end?

I can't see that far ahead,

But I want to be with my best friend.

I know that life's a journey.

And that time is passing by.

I want to get to know you,

By this kitchen wall of mine.

So if you'll meet me there,

Just as a friend passing by.

We can walk together,

By this kitchen wall of mine.
