A Fantastic Reality

A Fantastic Reality

A Poem by Pauline Marie Daley

In reality, what really is real?

Is fantasy simply just make belive?

When an old man raves of a life long past,

And holds his truth in a memorable cast,

For him this fantasy is very real.

There's no amount of truth that could him heal.

The unfortunate girl that sanity has left,

In another world her reality is kept.

Her family and friends tell her what's true,

But from this, only pain would ensue.

And then what about the little boy's dream?

Fantasty makes it seem less real than it seems.

When a dream's a nightmare what can one do?

When reality's fantasy, you are too.

Can fantasy be truth, or truth be false?

When your life is fake, things come to a halt.

But if you believe with all of your heart,

Then reality will come to a start.

This title also caught my eye as I scrolled through your work. It is a subject I speculate on endlessly. My feeling is that so called sanity is much thinner than we realise, a little like our earth's atmosphere. We should not assume there is only one reality. Or, perhaps, that there is any reality.
