Happiness is the Only Price

Happiness is the Only Price

A Poem by Pauline Marie Daley

Have fun while you're young,

Within the realms of reason.

Meet people, do things,

In each and every season.

Don't forsake your family,

But give them a little space.

You'll live happily,

In every different place.

Then you'll grow up,

And meet someone new.

And with any luck,

They'll be the one for you.

You'll start a family together

And go on family strolls,

But only in good weather.

The kids will get big,

You'll start to cry.

Remember the little jig?

That went with the lullaby?

Now a wedding's coming,

Its your daughter's day.

Remember that baby drumming?

Remember her cradle sway?

Her life has just begun,

You give her one piece of advice.

Have fun while you're young.

Because happiness is the only price.

Like most of my work from 2005, not the best, but definitely a sign of my progress as a writer.
