song without silence

song without silence

A Poem by pdk
"

it was found at the bottom of a box in a closet

"
well the river is wide
the valley's low
wildflowers grow
to earth they go

found time
mediocore sky
found time
beneath heavens

knelt down
taught myself
which way to see

saw a heaven
in an ant's burden
found haven
beneath
heaven

now when I walk
and breathe
say the piece
found on my knees

mediocore sound
melancholy strain
voice held
earthward gaze

know time
is not now
know peace
not for this hour

hold it close
let it loose
know by sound
not enough to choose

to be wise
to have an art

one must observe
patience of earth
colors change
times loose their place

within my heart
an enduring space

tried flowers
tried books
tried music
breath is my own

release refrain
old it continues
without
a voice to bend it melodiously

say a piece to be beneath
what to say
belongs to the human race

not dreams
not myth
merely sound
needs time to sever
felt pulse from beating time
felt pulse from bleeding time

somebody once asks to read this some place saying it makes the hair on the back of the neck stand up
