Going Home

Going Home

A Poem by Paul

I wish I was out on the road

I wish I was flying alone

I’d look over my shoulder

And say I’m going home

I wish I was out on the sea

I’d have no burden weighing on me

I’d look over my shoulder

And say I’m going home

And as I’m eating up the miles

I’ll think of those I left behind

And all the years that passed me by

‘cos I’m going home

I’ve seen too much

Hurt all around

I’ve had enough

I’ve got to get out

Longing and loathing

Solitary world

And as I leave this world behind

Not knowing who or what I’ll find

At least I’ll take my peace of mind

‘cos I’m going home

I wish I was high on a mountain

With my whole life

Spread out below

I’d see just where I’ve been

And know just where I’m gonna go

I’d look over my shoulder and say

I’m going home

I’ll look over my shoulder and say

I’m going home

Oh to look over my shoulder and say

I’m going home
