Blocking the nigel

Blocking the nigel

A Poem by Paul Bell

Front page news
Sad times ahead for happy people
Get in line
Politicians losing the whip
Seen gratifying in phone boxes
A liberal conference
Army cuts have seen the Swiss win the neutral war
Big aeroplane playing hide-and-seek
Same-sex marriage plunged into disarray
Heterosexuals revoke clause 69
Mary's got a headache
Migration watch in London spot new species
A rare Nigel
The stay together campaign have run out of money
Independents rolling in the black stuff
Later changed to multicoloured stuff
Guinness's drinkers in Swiss tanks demand apology
Women say bedroom tax is affecting performance
Men agree whilst channel hopping
Bald people in North Korea wigging it
Same sex mannequins in Moss bros
Church moving to M and S
S and M on Saturday nights
Wc poets uploading
Beware
Bound to offend some dummies.

Ahh the mess the world is in and I love the play on words in this poem is done extremely well.

We are heading for oblivion, but the taxman said he would still bleed me dry.
Ah yes the world has changed!! I would definitely not say for the better; this is a bittersweet (mostly humorous) comment on news around the world!! You're a spectacular news investigator, literally covering the world! from politicians to heterosexuals, to women of the night, and S & M, Or M&S, hysterical!
you really did yourself in this time Paul...covering all that news....you deserve a Nobel Prize!
Best, B.

Is a Nobel Prize a metaphor for something Immoral I would enjoy. lol

Yes., ( just kidding!)
It still amazes me after over a decade on this site that the most random read can hit close to home. I found myself earlier this year when being informed of a family members transgender identity drawing the line on them/they. When I went to school - it was he/him she/her or it. them they was used for more than one. And I flatly refuse to call a one a plural. All I have left are my words - and what they mean. The he in question is now identifying as a she so my them/they problem is moot. But for a moment....I'm making light of it but the poem rings true and serious

i hear you Paul .. it is a sad and trying time .. there is a reason we have laws .. there really is a clear right and wrong about humans and nature .. given to us through the ages as the Golden Rule ... the chaos of all the multiple sexing, changing, partnering is .. well ... perverse .. the total disregard for the sanctity and God given rights of the unborn is breaking the back of civilization ..not to mention all the words and books outlawed .... but hey .. you have said it quite well in "Blocking the nigel" not sure i get the "nigel" part ??? brave poem my friend ... couldn't agree more!

I'm banning it just on principle, or at least till the law changes.
Nice dance of words and thoughts. New world. New ways. I stand at a distance, waiting for the end. Hello Paul and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Think we're all waiting for the end, or the beginning.

I agree my friend. We will know both.
"yup, what Jacob said" I heard recently that the standard hand sign for "I'm ok" is triggering people too, they are now saying that it is REALLY a sign for "white Power" ...crazy world, I'm just going to move out in the fields with nobody around but the cows and the horses!~ only the animals make any sense anymore. Everything human is in constant contradiction , and most of it ridiculous, imagined, or downright instigated.

Spot on, beginning to the head in now.
Oh yes, everywhere someone is going to take offense. And most often to something that simply doesn't really affect them at all.
We just look for things to be against.
And many of those folks are sitting in church pews feeling holier than thou.
