The Spell Caster

The Spell Caster

A Poem by Paul Bell

I think it was her mental health

Well, to begin with anyway

She was always slightly weird in a weird sort of way

One day she decided she was a witch

Great big pointy hat and broom

Casting spells in all directions

Made big Joe infertile

Kept pointing to his groin, infertile, infertile

Then she got even weirder

Decided she was pregnant

Kept it up for months

Even the bump got bigger

Though the weird thing was

A baby appeared

It was decided this baby wasn’t by magic

People looked at big Joe in a different light now

In a weird way

Like maybe, he wasn’t infertile after all, and

She wasn’t casting spells

She was casting aspersions.

Ooh...nicely done...clever :) This invited me right in and the finale is brilliant Paul. Witch hunts grant no answers nor understanding, things are never as they seem and judgement serves no purpose...loved this :)

Wonder if there still together, or he's in jail.
Ahhhhh so clever Paul! You are the master of double-entendre and plot twists. This one is a classic. Spells and strange days to quote a good friend of mine-hmmmm... The last two lines were the ultimate burn! Poor Big Joe..."in a weird way". Perfect.

I am doing well and so is my family. I hope you're doing well.
ahahahaha i just love the dry wit in this Paul ..great character development says i .. no need for further detail .. i see them both clearly .. casting aspersions and a deer in the head lights look on ol' Big Joe :)) love to know "the rest of the story" i can only imagine the number of teen ladies who drift to witchcraft on the morning after ... a Da of two young ladies .. one of my worst nightmares .. so glad we all passed through unscathed :)

I would imagine it would be high, though nobody told Joe this. lol
From a witch to a mother, by casting aspersions at her own mate. She tried to be a spell caster but failed. I guess she was pretty mentally unstable! Clever write!

One never know these days.
Well, maybe Joe.

just a thought!!!
well, a mate can surely make us feel less than what we are by casting aspersions.
But in the end, may find we are more potent than thought...that we have some power as well.

Might be a lot more potency going on now that the bars are shut. Who could have foreseen that.
