Life.

Life.

A Poem by Paul Bell

You gave me life
Congratulations
Sorry I was a burden
Nine months of misery
Felt it myself
Still, must give you credit
You didn’t kill me
Couldn’t even kill yourself
School was a blast
I was that kid
Borstal opened my eyes
Found like-minded nutters like me
That was an education
Still, I did graduate
Straight to man prison
One day they let me out to visit you
To say goodbye
Your gravestone, below your name
It said, sadly missed
How ironic
Two sarcastic people in the world
One day I stopped being bitter
I started laughing
What the hell
Life to lead
Go lead it
Plus, the sign on the wall
Always somebody worse off than you

a good read paul, with the moral of "Always somebody worse off than you".
i totally concur with that, when you see people whining & always complaining with a fully functioning body.
yet i know of an internet person, a quadriplegic suffering from spinal muscular atrophy since he was a toddler, & he is the most inspirational person on this planet. (google jon morrow)

very true!
'One day I stopped being bitter .. I started laughing .. What the hell .. Life to lead .. Go lead it .. Plus, the sign on the wall .. Always somebody worse off than you '

This raw, rough.round.the.dges stream of thought highlights, with edgy humour, how it can be.. To write like this is true craft and creation, Paul.

Gets you through the day a bit of humour, and maybe a bit of sarcasm. lol
i couldn't help...but think of a friend, a dear friend whose parents just totally have made her life miserable from the time she was born...no love there, now on either side...i always thought i had an odd upbringing...but over the years am grateful for what i had...especially when i see the lack of love some had to deal with.

Some parents should be given a health warning, and why some have kids is beyond me.
