Suzy

Suzy

A Poem by Paul Bell

Oh, Suzy! What do you say

Will we play away

Maybe for the first time

Who knows

Hearts are made to break

Is it a date

Who’s got time for love

It’s late

Oh, Suzy! What’s the point of time

Why wait

Isn’t it great

We nearly made it

But not for the first time

Go home to him

It’s been fun

Time is on the run

See you tomorrow Suzy

Right before the sun.

Usually I read your "relationship" ditties as being told without judgment, but this one feels like you're making a statement & it's not a positive one. As I read, I tried to put myself back into the mindset of my growing-up era, where people mated freely & with no strings attached, despite any strings which may have been attached. You've pegged that carefree mindset, along with the inherent emptiness & forget-ability of such experiences (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Think the way things are going marriage will be gone in twenty years.
flippant and playful when damage done is never given a thought ... this poem actually saddens me in the closing ... I feel the emptiness of meaningless sex ... you have told a much larger story in my opinion .. created a well defined setting and scene that readers can easily embellish,
Suzy Suzy Suzy ... what are you going to do??? ;)

Always strings at the end.
a peek at an affair..."wake up little suzy...we gotta go home"
sometimes we are most attracted to that which we cannot have.
