I'm not reading this one clear as a bell (bell?), but somehow there's a muddled vision in my mind about how everyone in this country hates how politicians give "hope & prayers" every time we have a mass shooting (which happens weekly, steadily, for years now), yet nothing changes how we are dominated by the gun culture here. Your poem paints the confused mind that can't figure out whether to express his heart or shoot the other's heart. Your poem is properly muddled, in this regard (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

About a soldier out in freezing weather thinking about the past. Keeping you on your toes.
Love lends hope to life, hopeless love is another matter entirely and helps to pen a bitter verse and even decimate a few with ease. Iam glad you used the pen instead of the rifle.
