Love and Hope.

Love and Hope.

A Poem by Paul Bell

So cold, the rifle hard to hold

Death, always keeps you waiting

For now, I pen a verse

Love and hope, so strange

In the waiting game

I’ll kill you if I can

That’s the plan

Love and hope

It’s written in the stars

Reminds you who you are

But for now, it wasn’t to be

We move back

My rifle and me

Love and hope

It’s the least we can be.

Gee
Could imagine a WW1 soldier, his fate known, sitting in a muddied trench writing this.
Hope you are well.

Enjoy, finally the sun and out of dreary Britain.
If I'm going to get shot in the back of the head, I'd like it to be by a thoughtful fellow who might write a poem about the way I crumpled.

Yeah I like to think he was a decent guy.
I'm not reading this one clear as a bell (bell?), but somehow there's a muddled vision in my mind about how everyone in this country hates how politicians give "hope & prayers" every time we have a mass shooting (which happens weekly, steadily, for years now), yet nothing changes how we are dominated by the gun culture here. Your poem paints the confused mind that can't figure out whether to express his heart or shoot the other's heart. Your poem is properly muddled, in this regard (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

About a soldier out in freezing weather thinking about the past. Keeping you on your toes.
Love lends hope to life, hopeless love is another matter entirely and helps to pen a bitter verse and even decimate a few with ease. Iam glad you used the pen instead of the rifle.

Love is always dangerous, should come with a health warning.

I disagree with you Paul, love is divinely glorious... and enrapturing ( with a right person)!
