An unexpected poem going by your title... I thought it was going to be to do with wildlife and wilderness! Dreamers come out to play more at night, artists of paint music and poetry often find the calm night air excites them to write! The Night being their only companion!
Interesting poem.

The night does bring out the unexpected. Think I was out in the wilds when I wrote it.
well written, but rather unforeseen.... a bit dark & gloomy poem, i had expected something a bit happier about nature, trees or animals. at least hope is around the corner.

where i live on the gold coast we are in a hot & humid summer.
i think it's harder to be gloomy when you're staying inside with air conditioning to keep yourself cool .
The theme around this place tonight seems to be finding light in the darkness or in this case acceptance and then hope in the acceptance. A bit of a pattern I think for most of us. Insightful write, Paul:)
Love how your title summons song lyrics (re: Jacob's first line) . . . I think of "wild" as being on the side of having fun. But your poem took me in an unexpected direction, as I put myself into the shoes of some chronically-blue young writers I read regularly here at the cafe. There is definitely a darker wild lurking & you describe it hauntingly, albeit briefly, which I admire . . . I saw a lot of my own nighttime lurkings in this (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

:oooo baby, baby it's a wild world...hard to get by just upon a smile"
but then smiles aren't seen in the dark....especially when dreams go sour and we are snoring frowns...
stripped of hope.
Life seems to be doing this to a lot of us these days, I'm afraid.

Must be the dark nights coming in, making us all a bit morose.
I like poetry and stories that tell me something.
Sometimes the shortest poems hit the hardest.
