The Bus Stop.

The Bus Stop.

A Poem by Paul Bell

Yesterday I went insane

Nothing spectacular

Just crossed over to the other side

It was probably coming for a while

Though I don’t quite know why

Nothing untoward happened

Just the mundane walk through life we all journey

The bus stop was full of the usual people

Old Mrs. Grey, off to collect her pension

Julie, still bitching about the world

Bill, still trying to leave his wife

Then the bus turned up

Or should I say, three buses turned up

All the same number

Old Mrs. Grey got on one

Julie got on the next

Bill went on the last bus

It didn’t make sense

All the buses were empty

Like that was how it was supposed to be

I didn’t see them again after that

It was like they never existed

I would mention it to people

But they would deny knowing them

They were hiding something

The more I thought about it the weirder it got

I would stay in all day thinking about it

Was I next

I daren’t look out the window

Just in case it was my time

I began to barricade myself in

Blackout the house

I could survive on water till I got the all clear

I could hear talking, the knock at the door

They were coming for me

I heard the door crashing in

I was too weak to fight them off

They took me away

Past the bus stop

Where old Mrs. Grey, Julie, and Bill, were standing, looking at me

They had been cloned

I shouted as they put me in the jacket

I tried to tell the others, it would be them next

I watched as they got on the bus

Not realising it would be them next

They just didn’t understand

I watched the bus take them away as they drove me off...

It's stopping, get on or else. lol
oh wow...so maybe "there never really was a box of chocolates" and the woman sitting with him only imagined the box, and maybe that he existed...
sometimes we float into another plane as poets...and often feel we are constantly teetering on the edge..of something...maybe it is sanity.

So true, you need to be insane to be sane these days.
