Sunshine in your eyes has gone, gone away. Strange the games we play when we walk away. Yesterday the game was new. Just me and you. Now the honeymoon's through. What do we do. We walk away. Then we say It shouldn’t be this way Love at first sight Felt so right Not anymore As you open the door Now the split is deep The wounds begin to weep The way back has gone Now we sit upon The memories that never were Did we care We play it out online Your team against mine So strange, is it really us The couple on the bus The future ahead So rosy and red Ten years later A chance meet In the street We lie about life Trouble and strife Walk away Without a care Turn and wave Pause Two kids on the bus Going all the way All the way To that future day The day they would never see Wasn’t to be life was stronger than them both As it always is.
Love is the longest journey of all. It's not easy to see it end when you felt things would last forever, then having to see strangers around you having everything seem to come right together for them. Sometimes, the journey isn't meant to last for us...but it'll push us towards someone who is worthy of what all we have to offer. Very thoughtful, heartfelt write.
Sad that some things never last and become the past- if two truly can say they have tried but it wasn’t meant to be but sometimes people don’t try hard enough- but sometimes one does but the other cannot appreciate the other enough to realise what they have until it’s gone/ life goes on better is always on its way🌹
After lust comes the conditioning to accept the warts and all faults of our chosen other, this and tongue biting, counting to ten and having long hard looks at ourselves in the mirror and asking, " I suppose you're perfect then"
Have just celebrated 25 years of marriage and can honestly say I couldn't have asked for a better woman to let me share her life.
Hi Paul, hope all is well.
Enjoyed the read

So true, you have to work at marriage.
Especially if you want to go out with the boys.
Love this Paul.... not the usual from you...but worth reading again and again...
And very true....once the games end and when it turns ugly...it's difficult...would love to read this side of yours more :))

When the love is forgotten. Almost impossible to find. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Always starts out roses, then the thorns come out.
I very much enjoy reading you when you're delivering a deep & serious message (seems a little uncommon coming from you!) *wink! wink!* I also love seeing you rhyme, which isn't usually part of your style it seems. Great job showing all the ways "love at first sight" can turn ugly without warning . . . you deliver a haunting longing in between lines (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Just as well it's only now and again.
Wonder if love should be changed to lust.
Gorgeous writing! Tightly knitted picture of a journey that ends up breaking your readers heart....
sat with tears, wondering if the protagonists of this journey ever felt this way even a little, while they were playing those strange games??

Young love. Always starts out rosy.
Should really come with a health warning.

Love young or old is divine. It has no expiring date!!
I like poetry and stories that tell me something.
Sometimes the shortest poems hit the hardest.
If I post something serious, don't worry, a funny poem will follow. Don't hesitate to tell me if my po.. more..
