Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Paul Bell

Waiting, waiting, to kill you.

Just walk into my sight.

Say hello, I’ll say goodnight

You don’t seem to playing.

I’m lying here.

Waiting, waiting.

Now she’s back, it’s all replaying.

You’re not the person I once knew.

The fun has gone.

It isn’t you.

Your eyes betray.

You’re just a shell.

A cold, cold, living hell.

I’m still the same.

Same old guy

Just call my name

I’m still the same

Waiting, waiting, to kill you

You’re in my sight

Number seventy seven

Goodnight

She’s back

It’s all replaying

I’m lying here

Seventy eight

Seventy nine

In my mind

She’s gone

Left me lying here

Waiting, waiting, to kill you.

It's our tormenting mind you so well convey in this poem. We rehearse, replay, rewrite everything. We constantly try to quell the chaos and establish order, but the brain won't release the memories. And, lured into our delusional, contrived world, we conspire how to kill the pain. Yet, as Jacob points out, it never dies. An impressive work, Paul. I enjoyed reading it.

Thanks Robert, glad you liked it.
mmmmm why do you always want to kill some one lol
either the guy wanting to kill the lady,
or the lady wanting to kill the guy
or mass murder lol
too much violence says me.... :P

mmmm but this poem made me paint a picture of a guy who is down bleeding counting down his last breath as he waits for her to come to him... but the clocks ticking she has turned cold... she is not going to look back at him.... nor offer him the warmth he desperately seeks :))

I love the wicked way you toss your lovers aside. This makes me want to kill someone in one of my upcoming writes . . . it's so satisfying to do that to a deserving bloke! But after reading Jacob's interpretation, now I see things differently . . . what good does it do to kill one off, when it's my nasty habit to invite more trouble into my life in due time? This is why I swore off men a long time ago *heh! heh! heh!* Fondly, Margie

wanting to kill the new her, but even if we do, the old one will not come back---the new "her" has killed the old one and the love will not be restored---
twice wounded, three times shy...no matter how many times we replay---the story is still the same...better to move on than be sentenced to linger on past memories.
wickedly good poem.

Yes, we're not a happy lot.
Meaningful, yet powerful.
