He bleeds, for he is weak Tortured thoughts He bleeds Preaches to the mild So reverent in their eyes Looking down, he sermons The cross is bearing Impure thoughts He bleeds The thoughts get stronger Penance for the soul He touches his scars Sacrificed for his lord The prayers cleanse He is pure Gods chosen one Standing before his flock He sermons They call to him He sees her The scars open.
Great use of words and thoughts.
"He is pure
Gods chosen one
Standing before his flock"
I liked the above lines. To stand for the right. Isn't easy. Thank you Paul for sharing the excellent poetry.

When you shed your blood for the one that you love then it is a supreme sacrifice. It could be a person, a belief or it could be for your country.
He loves his disciples and he loves his Lord. His is the ultimate sacrifice.

I would like to think it was his mother.
Reading your explanation below, I have to say I did not see it as him cutting himself. I see a man before his flock, preaching but inside lusting for someone possibly not his own wife. Valentine
...I do have a question though... why did you say "He bleeds some more" later? I think saying "some more" takes away from the language thats you've already so beautifully put together in this poem. When I reread it (probably the fourth time lol) i just read "he bleeds"...
IDK just curious about your style because i absolutely enjoyed reading this
