Dolly.

Dolly.

A Poem by Paul Bell

Death surrounded her

Bombs falling captured the stories inside her head

Real life tears fell over blood soaked mornings

Screams pierced right into the reality she called life

Friends, limbs missing made her look abnormal

Laughter left the country vowing never to return

She watched the burning figure running towards her

Collapsing before her, pleading for death

But death didn’t want him that day

He wasn’t one of the fortunate ones

She climbed into the basement seeking solace

Clutching the doll who like herself seemed to have survived in one piece

But something wasn’t right

Dolly was living a lie

She pulled one arm and one leg off

Dolly smiled

And the world became normal again.

After reading your review on my write, how do I believe she survived all she went through normal? The worse the trauma around life the more is the reaction from it. America has been so fortunate the battles are done other places. Now you have me praying for peace. Valentine

Only the dolly was normal. The child sure wasn't.

Dark and stark truth here Paul. Adding the doll was a genius touch, made it real and heart wrenching.

Don't sugarcoat it Bev. lol
All the dollies in the world who make the world seem normal, even in the darkest time deserve a memorial.
I like this one, because it makes you uncomfortable reading the ugly truth.

p.s: do you mean 'survived in one piece' instead of peace?
