I draw you in Five rings of smoke appear like magic Your face on every one Christ how romantic am I Maybe drink a JD in your honour It's amazing how little things bring you to me The phone comes alive halfway through your honour Your soft sexy voice sends a tingle down my spine You say it's over Well, that was out of the blue I draw you in The sign on the packet Smoking can damage your health and eventually kill you So profound I check the bottle of JD No warning on that You disappear into the clouds Every one a silver lining.
"Love Smoke"
Paul Bell,
Is it love or is it addiction; drug of choice? Interesting how much comfort people will "draw" from anything which gives any comfort, even a substitute. I know some relationships are better left to die, this must be one of them. Quite a poem.
Blessings,
Kathy
I LOVE this! It is definitely real and relevant. I also like the checking of the warning labels of cigarettes versus alcohol.. and you opt for the one that will eventually kill you according to them.. and how you mock the industry at being profound by warning of death. I also love the part that nearly seduced you, her soft sexy voice sending a tingle down your spine, but then the content she delivered of ending it abruptly was bewildering and you can tell that you are pissed and yet somewhere hopeful: "silver lining." Intense, visual writing. I like it!

Man falls back on his best friend. JD. She was to good for him.

I think that was definitely implied by the seductive quality of her voice and her impetuous breakup.
it can be exceeding hard to give up something you find much joy in doing, even though it maybe detrimental to ones own health! Love this. Very inventive and fun to read
Well as they say "there's no smoke without fire".
This poem flows beautifully and reflects on a past love.
Yet like a spark to a flame could be revived.
The phoenix is set to rise again from the ashes of love.
Ps make mine a double 😊
I like poetry and stories that tell me something.
Sometimes the shortest poems hit the hardest.
If I post something serious, don't worry, a funny poem will follow. Don't hesitate to tell me if my po.. more..
