Prison

Prison

A Poem by Paul Nolan

Prison

Trapped by fear, not by walls but from within.

For reasons I cannot say, I must not say,

to utter out aloud would be to give a reality none could bare.

Imprisoned in my very own mind. A cell made by me for me and without knowledge of escape, I dwell and punish myself with my own thoughts and panic.

Split in mind, the prison guard and the inmate, is honesty the lock that keeps me here or the key to set me free.
