FreelancingA Poem by Pat LynchJust a hefty poem I came up with on this beautiful Sunday morning. I haven't written anything in a while, so this I may be a bit rusty.Jason tried so very
hard to be a successful writer, He sits in his mother’s
basement, with a cigarette lighter. He
leans back in his chair, and takes a long puff Dang, this writing
thing sure is tough! Alas, he finishes his
latest work. He posts it online,
with one hell of a smirk. Exhaustion setting
in, he decides to go sleep, It is not long
however, when he is woken up by a beep “It’s my computer” he
thinks to himself It is! It’s an
E-mail, which reads “Your book sucks, kill yourself.” Jason slumps back in
his chair, surely depressed “No one will ever
like my books” he exclaims, truly stressed. Don’t worry Jason! As
he receives another beep a little while later He runs to his
computer, it’s another E-mail, from a foreign dictator! “I love your book Jason;
I would love to publish it in my nation, as it will increase my power” Jason is confused,
puzzled, and smelly, so he quickly takes a shower. “Should I help this
man? He sure is offering a lot of money” But be careful Jason,
world domination is not funny! Jason runs back to
his computer, as he has made his decision. “I’m sorry sir; I
cannot help you, as I have had a vision If I were to help
you, it would look like it is you who I support So my answer is no,
and I will be seeing you in International Court!” In the dictator’s
E-mails, he had sent Jason lots of private information, So Jason showed this
to the Judge, which led to the downfall of the dictator’s nation. So the dictator had
fallen, and people all around the world yelled “Jason, you are amazing!” This then led to lots
of gentle embracing. Jason received truckloads
of money from the court case Making him one of the
richest men of the human race So Jason’s story ends
here, as he sits on his large estate in his lawn chair Turns out after all, Jason didn't have to be a writer, to become a billionaire. © 2013 Pat Lynch |
