Attention Span

Attention Span

A Poem by Pat Lynch
"

Every time I try to study...

"

It’s very hot in this room,

The janitor walks past with a broom.

Is the librarian sipping a bottle of rum?

And why does this chair hurt my bum?

The sunlight is beaming down on my face,

I feel bad for that girl with the neck brace.

The kids are being very loud behind me,

What am I doing here again? Please remind me.

My hands are sweaty, I can’t hold this pen.

I’d rather be home watching T.V. in the den.

My feet hurt. My shoes are too small,

I wonder what my friends are doing at the mall.

Sitting in the library is really such a bore,

It’s just too bad I can’t remember what to study for!
