Reading through old writings saw this and it is the reviews you should read. Many great ones and so many old friends no longer writing here. it was in defense of a review a friend got

So, you've come here to crucify me with your words for my words , thoughts, feelings that I write here with all the heart and soul inside me. Words that say, use me, write me, please, me.
Thoughts that say tell me, let them see me. Feelings that say release me, set me free.

You say my meter is off, put a disconnect notice on it.You say there is no rhythm, YOU have no rhythm..  perhaps it flows backward like the old timers said the mighty Mississip' flowed after the great earthquake on the New Madrid Fault.

You say there is no rhythm. So maybe I don't dance that well or to the same tune as you do besides that, I'm white.Know fact, we have little rhythm...

Oh, and the structure, bad. built this with my own two hands and I don't really want to tear it down for you. Thank you very much.

 So go ahead, crucify me. Place me on papyrus with pens of quill. I will tear myself down, pour my thoughts, words, feelings on this bloody papyrus.

MY Words, MY Thoughts , My Feelings, and perhaps if they should be deemed worthy of being featured by whoever it is that deems such, I will say Bravo for me , and to you I will say,"Thank you for the review, thanks very much, but I think I will write it, do it my way."

All grammatical and misspelled words you see are welcomed.




I came here because I was invited .. to write, read, share and learn.
The Cafe is kind, the people are kind. The review I read a few days ago WAS not kind.. it seemed as if the person reviewing was deliberately trying to make the writer feel bad.
I am not a writer, I have already stated that. Many I read are writers , writers I would aspire to be like. Some of the writers on this site are young, just getting their feet wet. Still they want to write and have something to say. The writing is a form of release and much better than drugs or alcohol or anything in that vein. I have see some reviews of theirs..cruel reviews. I would imagine many of the younger writers give up when all they needed, need is a bit of encouragement and a few tips, maybe by email as younger people are more sensitive usually.
 And the thing that helps most is reading the fine poetry and stories by the many talented writers here at the Cafe.

Bravo, Chloe! I read a very harsh review the other day (not my own) also. I was so annoyed because it was personally attacking the writer and not really the work, itself. I went and read the "critics" work and I had to say that I was unimpressed. I don't know who he thought he was. I've only had one non-constructive review and it's prompted me to write something as well. It's been bouncing around in my head.

By the way, favorite lines:

This is a really great stance to take and i feel the same way you do. I write for me and it makes me happy. If other people want to read it and like it thats great if not thats great too. I write becuase its how i feel or it offers catharsis or it speaks to my soul. Sadly in all situations there are people who are so inscure in themselves will try and pass on those insecurities to others. They will tear down something someone wrote to make themselves feel better and think they will look better by comparision. They will hide it under the guise of helping when all they are is just mean and arrogant. I write for me so my things are written like i write and talk. If i change to soemone elses style to make them happy then they might as well have written it in the first place.

PS i also love to read so its why i read so many things here and comment on them - but i always am positve about the comments i leave behind.

cheers luv! i'm all for bold statements and defending what you do even if you stand alone, in other words what ever you if your not prou dof it don't do it, and accepting the consiquences of your actions is what gives you an sense of independence, where you are your worst critic, but open for outside critique..

many writers think they are geniuses,...all they want is reveiws and worship of their own work, and they are so ful of themselves....ie...."i mneant to say this here and this is not in the right format..." etc...etc... i havent met any yet.. but ive seen them on reviews of other people's work, and im fairly new to this site so im sure ill find some of them soon enough
unfortunately ive found, a reflection of reality too,....so many people, including supposed writers, (isnt it an art?, they feel its their own personal science), are obsessed with the petty....example, ive been in iraq in combat for 4 months,. and this new guy , a desk jockey, rear echelon m**********r, has the nerve to take me aside and tell me that my sideburns are too long and im not setting a good exapmple as an officer for the young ones in my crew...i almost lost it, blew a few circuits....aaaaaaaarrrrrghhhhh!! i dont give a flying f**k about sideburns when im getting shot at, one of my guys has a mohawk..i think its awesome and now im gonna grow one! it matters not at all!!! but apparently, there are many who are eaither obsessed with themselves, or with petty nonsensical things that dont matter!!! lost in their own worlds where they see nothing but what they are told and trapped blindly and unkowingly in petty stupid beaurocracy and rules...

ignore all those beaurocrats that exist in the writers world.. they are morons and cant see what is before them...they tell you "of the splinter in your eye and neglect the timber in their own" a quote from the bible...(im not religous but its a great write i think) i find it is often the ones who claim to be the most liberal and tolerant are the ones who are actually the most intolerant...

well, anyways...you are completely right about the forum of this writers cafe..its not for the know it alls to crush the essence of beautiful and raw and often times young and new talent, in order to satisfy their own perceptions of writing...which usually are quite limited... just ignore them and i think your writng is very unique and beautiful!

I try not to review works that I really don't like, and if there are major problems with it gramatically or spelling-wise I do try and let the person know about these little mistakes because it helps the reader to enjoy the piece without breaking concentration. It really is important to write "properly" when that is called for. I've stopped calling mistakes and typos out in reviews though... a personal e-mail is a much nicer approach, and it's usually appreciated.

Young or old, it's not right to discourage anyone who is trying to accomplish something. You've hit the mark with this piece, and I appreciate your dedication to making the Cafe a productive and constructive place where everyone can feel comfortable sharing their art. Right on my friend!

Thank you for your wonderful piece. I believe you and I are on the same page about the issue. You have said everything that i said In my piece "Don't Read This" but you did more peacefully than I did. SOrry but i was pissed off and had been listening NIN and Marlyn Mansion all day so of course I was going to rant away with Fowl language and my opinions running wild. But you were more focused and a little nicer about it than I.

I am honored to know you and to have you as a friend to see you stick up for the people you care about shows a ton of character and in my books a person's actions tells you a lot about them personal. You are Ace's in my book doll.
