Hope

Hope

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe

I packed our belongings,
looked around - could be the last time
I see this town -
I hope beyond hope it does not drown

Like Atlantis of old this town may be
buried beneath the  Missip's muddy sea
because you see we are sacrificial lambs
now look closely I tell the kids - no tears

Instead of tears - hope- hope
to have a home to come back to
hope we have a town to come back to
look around , soak it all in put it your memory bank

Perhaps the last we see of our home town
I know it hurts, I am crying too
we have to be strong and see this through
wipe away your tears let's leave without fear

This house has held us kept us safe and warm
through many a winter's storms - here from your birth
I brought you so many memories we all share
call Chipper get him in the car , no dear child

He can not swim that far- all your questions
I have no answers my precious dears
looks as if the worst may already be here
but we can hope , we can pray

Going to take a miracle to save the day
we can hope , we can pray for a miracle
of miracles to safe our day

*Please, let it be *.

Author's Note

Chloe..Across the Universe
just simple thoughts on the towns and people of the towns being flooded in order to save NOLA and other large cities in La.
I feel so bad for them all ! What a horrible thing .
Pray they still have something to go back to. From the newscast pictures many do not :( - and the cost for them, us and already a 14.3 - 8? trillion dollar debt the
USA is in .. things look grim , no i am no pessimist .. a realist
this is all too real- click the picture please - choppy poetry from the heart

I completely understand the meanings behind this poem. It's so sad when people lose their homes and many times entire towns to floods and hurricanes - in fact, my mother herself lost her home and a lot of the town she'd lived in and grown up in for most of her life to Hurricane Andrew. I heard a lot about what happened in Louisiana on the news and such, it's terribly depressing. I do hope those people had homes to return to or new ones to move into after rebuilding.

Well done, like the seemingly older style of rhyming poetry. Thank you for drawing attention to this, it's important for people know what is happening around them.

Been a hard year for many. I pray for better times for all people. The water can be a blessing and a destroyer of life and property. Thank you for the reminder. Need to have concern for the world around us.

A sad situation...your words have so much compassion in them. I wish people in the government had even a small part of the compassion I read in your words.

Heartrending, heartrending truths, Chloe. And the worst truth is that most do not care until it knocks on their doorstep. This is something that I've been working on... trying to show my sympathy and compassion rather than write it. And this has simply renewed my resolve. Thank you, Chloe. It is truly motivating.
