The Kettle Of Grace

The Kettle Of Grace

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

Collaboration with Rossen

"
Like a kettle with a hole
pouring out his poor soul

--------------------------------------

"choose me, it's my
time give me a
chance to feed the
ones most in need"

faces of those who reflect in my shine

the weary and worn
the hungry and lost

a bowl for my friend who needs me again

-----------------------------------------------------------

in the early morning glow
the sprinkling of onion,
celery, bay leaf and spices
bring the soup kitchen to life

shiny bell peppers, garlic,
and okra, tomatoes and seared brown chicken
sausage and shrimp

the lunch lines shuffles
smells of heaven waft
to these hungry souls
today's soup

Cajun Gumbo

the steam rolled higher today ,
sending sweet aromas far over
this place

thanks to a small hole
in the kettle of grace

last ladle cries for
soup and a warm belly...

What a warm and hardy feel this has. Great rhythm flowing rhyme, this is awesome you two!

“the weary and worn
the hungry and lost”

“last ladle cries for
soup and a warm belly..”

Sounds like fulfillment!

Great Write You Two!

Beautifully done, both of you. It's hard to tell where one pen ends and the other begins!

And your A/N...perfect. It's an unfortunate truth.

Dear Chloe,

What a wonderful Gumbo, "...a / chance to feed the / ones most in need". Wonderful sentiments bringing comfort to those in need. We feel the deep comfort in the soup, in the smells, in the "...the sprinkling of onion, / celery, bay leaf and spices..."

Wonderfully written and conceived. Most enjoyed! Congratulations on a wonderfully warm piece.

Best regards,

Rick

LOve it
I can hear the Youngbloods singing in the background...
"C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now
Right now "

Indeed we need to do it right now..

Good job, congrats to both...
