Five Years Ago

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe

I press my lips against your tiny head
I hold you close to my breast-mother's milk
You smell like Heaven
How did I have such a beautiful child?

Depending on me and only me
You can always depend on me
Mommy loves you so
I will keep you safe and warm

Showering you with all the love that lives
Within me where you grew for nine months
How excited I was to feel that first fleeting butterfly
Your tiny foot kicking inside made me so happy

How time passes by- blinking the sun
From my eyes you are one- two-three
Four - five - years ago on this day you came
Into my world -time passes too quickly

"Don't look at me", you say as you put
On your Spider Man undies
"I can do it ", you say when I say, let me
Help you with your shoes

The feelings are mixed-no longer so dependent
Upon me -you are growing up quickly
So quickly and you are my world
I know it will not be long- how can I let you go?

You will say, "This is the girl I want to marry
She looks like you, see"
I will nod and blink the tears away
So you will not see

I will watch you walk down the aisle
With your beautiful bride
No longer are you dependent upon me
You have her -your helpmate

I blink tears away as I look into your eyes
Once again a different day I hold you close
You smell like Heaven
Child of my child my love for you is forever

You can always call on me

there is so much love here within your thoughts...I can remember when my son (now 26) when he was just a baby, I can picture it so close to me...I feel for you as you think of your son in the future...and you will love him forever...just as I will mine...

peace and love Chloe...

What a heartfelt beautiful tribute to your son. The years go way too fast...mine are grown and out of college and reading this I remember the first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday...truly lovely...

Oh, this is such a beautiful tribute to your son.
In can relate to this so much...I have a daughter that
is 13, and becoming more independant, so I feel sad
because she doesn't need me as much. Very touching
this read is. Nice job!

What a beautiful mother's poem... the smell of a baby is so special (at its best lol) and those 'butterfly' feelings... and how hard it is for a mother to hand over to another...

A very special poem...

this is ever beautiful~ I had two daughters~ but with the birth of my grandson not only do I get to witness this form of beautiful bond he himself has with his mother~ but am allowed to be a part of it since we all occupy the same home~ =)~
gorgeous~ Chloe~ your heart is the brightest of gold here~

Ahhh Chloe this is just beautiful. You have to save this for him and read it to him on his wedding day, I am sure he would love you for that :). Though you should know that the bound between son and mother is always there, us sons will always love our mothers more than life itself. So he may have a new bride who tends to him but he will also have mom always. Look at you writing this making us all melt. Very good write.
