I like the Pink Floyd song too! This was great Chloe. An often misquoted verse in the Bible comes from St. Paul. It is often misquoted as, Money is the root of all evil. But that is NOT what Paul said. Money, being an inanimate object can be neither good nor evil. What Paul said is this, "The love of money is the root of all sorts of evil" 1st Timothy 6:10. He could just as well have said, greed is the root of all sorts of evil. It only takes looking around a bit to see how true that is today as it was then. It is a timeless axiom. Here's wishing that you never want for the things you need and never need for the things you want. Bless.
I like the way you wrote this poem, the beginning, the S in between, and the ending... it had a great message, how little things can brighten up peoples life, and also if only people were not so materialistic .....
You certainly will have none if you give it away so wantonly to measly MacDonalds clerks!!!
I really like the way you spliced the poem up with dollar signs, as if a cash register were clinking as a rhythm between verses (Pink Floyd!)..
The moral and good intention of this almost musical piece is very sweet and world-loving, but it does convey an admirable notion that if your own money can at least make someone else happy if not you, then it does have some genuine value and can do some good...
...But it would have been cheaper just to smile back...!!
You are so right chloe, money is the root of all evil. I have found this since I lost my mother, my siblings have turned into uncaring morons, my inlaws have become outlaws, and I have become the big bad wolf, or so they tell me!lol
Smiling at you
Tai, penny less most of my family, all because of their love of money! such a shame on them
if only the rest of the world thought this way! money. it tears people apart, just as easily as you can tear it apart..."Money is just paper..."
And a $14.12 smile from a stranger. I like this one a lot
... what a fascinating read! ... and i love the way you've presented it ... looks amazing visually ... lucky guy ... he'd have been ecstatic ... i'm sure ... it's startling what money has begun to symbolize and what it can buy ... or maybe it was always that way ... i like how you've used a simple example to navigate through the dimensions of the meaning of money to different people ... and you've ended brilliantly ... the last two lines look amazing and speak volumes ... good luck for the contest ... :) ...
