Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed Whatever colors you have in your mind I'll show them to you and you'll see them shine
Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile Until the break of day, let me see you make him smile His clothes are dirty but his hands are clean And you're the best thing that he's ever seen
Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile Why wait any longer for the world to begin You can have your cake and eat it too Why wait any longer for the one you love When he's standing in front of you
Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead I long to see you in the morning light I long to reach for you in the night Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead
ah Bob Dylan, classics. I recently have seen a movie about him, I enjoyed it a lot, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368794/ Of course, I liked the song.
and I love also Duran Duran. I believe, they were...real musicians I mean REAL musicians. RAP started nicely, it was really the expression of the lives of poor people living in those conurbations; but then - as everything, people turn everything into money.. Bob Geldof said, I have read it recently, Most people get into bands for three very simple rock and roll reasons: to get laid, to get fame, and to get rich. in Melody Maker 27 August 1977 - so the young people don't desire to create to perform for the sake of music - it says it all, who knows better than such a great musician like him? That's why we deal now with ordinariness as a consequence of being average and not outstanding in music and art business. Seems like people are more entertained as passive observers of somebody else's life hear and read about escapades, sex and drug excesses or love to hear that even such great people have weakness like breaking the law.... or cheat on their wives and girlfriends.... not only us the ordinary people.. Well.. And what's worse, the media isd cruel, bombard me with this horribly bad sounding something in supermarket, everywhere, everywhere, doesn't matter that I don't wish to hear this their fragmented, alienated racket.. and I don't care if this is considered as anti-social behavior. I want art. Real creation or nothing. And this classic rock was art. It stays alive.

Bob Dylan and Kris Kristofferson are my two favorite lyricists. Most folks don't realize that Dylan wrote All Along the Watchtower recorded by Jimi Hendrix or that Kris is a Rhodes Scholar and a brilliant man, a Ranger, ex boxer, helicopter pilot and all around tough guy. He dated Janis Joplin before her death and a few other great ladies of music. I respect both men so much and their amazing talents. My favorite Dylan tune is Tangled Up In Blue but I like this too. :o)
oooh, love this song, LOVE dylan... dylan's lyrics are beautiful and so intricate -- he is not a mere songwriter, he is a world-class poet... 'forever young', 'it ain't me babe', 'knockin on heaven's door', 'mr. tambourine man' are all favs of mine, like serious stranded-on-a-desert-island favs... whenever i come down with a case of writer's block, i just listen to dylan for a while and study his words... they are so heady and dreamy and can be taken in so many different ways... his songs tell stories that spur the creation of other stories! to me, that is his genius! i mean, just look at 'lay lady lay' for example -- there is a story in there: who is this man? who is this mysterious, tempting woman? why does she have these commitment issues? what is this past between them? doesn't this song make you curious about them? don't you just want to take out your pen and write something about them! dylan is inspiration... he is talent across genres, across decades! :D
okay, i'll go away now... but thanks for giving me a place to unleash my spiel of dylan-love... i leave with a quote for all writers to keep in mind:
"And every one of them words rang true and glowed like burnin' coal/Pourin' off of every page, like it was written in my soul from me to you..." - Bob Dylan, Tangled Up In Blue
For me Bob Dylan is one of the best songwriters/poets ever.
This is one of my favorites among many.. simple music no
synth...pounding drums ( i like that too tho) just his words that I find beautiful.. simple words.
Many find his voice obnoxious... i can sing like him lol I like to imitate that is... he does drone and has a nasal twang but his words ... just so lovely.
And he looked so cool back then still does I guess, i know he is still going strong..
I love his songs of politics and issues .. Hurricane is a great song.. fast paced .. a long song about Rubin Carter, a boxer from New Jersey who was charged with
murder, unjustly... ' if you're black better not show up on the scene'..
The times they are indeed a-changin ...
Peace and love music and bubble gum ... if only.... blow all our troubles away in a big bubble.....
Not a fan of Bob Dylan, but I DO like this song. I find it to be very romantic. He is in love and wishes that she would see that she is too. I like this version...
