Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

Wrote this long ago for my mama the first Mothers Day she was DEAD

"

My mother loved this time of the year
time for Spring cleaning she'd sing in our ears
so up we would jump from bed when we had
rather pulled the covers up over our heads

Once we were up she would hand us a list
mine was always filled with the best  of the
worse that is

Like clean the toilet and under the beds
When you are done with that, don't forget the shed

My mamas been gone for over a year
some days more than others I shed many tears

Now I know that Heaven is immaculately clean
but being that it is Spring
I know she is cleaning with the Angels
God's Heavenly pews

The word play and poem described above could be seen to use the same symbolism for cleaning ourselves - for instance, we practice fasting, we clean our bodies and mind and so this is to represent a central procedure in human spirituality in spring, I really liked this sweet dedication to your mama.

This was very beautiful. It is amazing the little things we miss once we lose someone close to us. I think this is a wonderful tribute.

My mom Cleaned constantly and scolded me constantly for being messy. She wasn't much of a believer... I hope that dosen't mean that the other place is realy clean too!

This, I honestly found very touching. I immediately recalled the awful thoughts in which I've imagined losing my 'mama' (that's what i call her too, though i'm English!) and being left only to remember through doleful tender memories how I would miss those small things that seem so insignificant in life - just as this poem describes. Such small things, but when they are no longer there in the present, how extremely important they become. And how tragic life is that when someone so dear to you passes, you are left behind onlt to remember them...
A powerful, emotional piece of work, that is so simply and concisely absorbing.

Any time we speak (or write) the name of a loved one, we honor them. That is what you have done here and I found it to be very sweet. I understand that loss. Thank you for sharing, Chloe.

It's such a sweet poem. I loved the final stanza. It made me smile and I could imagine your mother found a great joy in being remembered for her Spring Cleaning fervor. xo
