I Never Noticed

I Never Noticed

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

took anyone for granted?

"

I never noticed how the light shines from your eyes
till you were gone

I never noticed how your laughter made me happy
till you were gone

I never noticed how the curve of your mouth sent my heart racing
till you were gone

I never noticed how your kisses left me shaking
till you were gone

I never noticed how my breath caught when you speak
till you were gone

I never noticed how much I love you
now that you're gone

But after 32 years of married you forget, you take it for granted they will always be there, then puff they're gone. You would give anything for one minute with them, to hear their voice, see their eyes shine and for one more kiss.

A very well written poem and an excellent message. Beautifully penned. Great job.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder or is out of sight out of mind correct. it just depends on how the individual thinks.

Good Poem lol

Very deep and exhilarating poem. I feel the desperation in the voice of the speaker. You bring out a message that so many of us relate too. The ones that we so badly want to love again our gone, and we find ourselves drifting off wanting on more day with them. It's sad, but true. It really makes us appreciate the things we have and that we should hold onto. Nobody wants regret. It's a horrible feeling that seeps its way into the deepest crevices of our hearts.

You captured the sadness and regret of the realization of loss and left the reader to determine what kind of loss happened...death, a broken relationship. The sentences are simple and pack a powerful punch, just like it feels when a person realizes too late what they've lost.

This is the poem you wish someone else will see and think of you. This is a favorite, no doubt! I really love everything about your poem and it lingers in such a fantastic way. Excellent!

So much truth in this poem Chloe...and so much wistfulness and longing too. It's true that we usually don't notice how wonderful someone is until they're gone and you described that just perfectly here.

This is so sad and so easily done. A good wake up call. ~Thank you.

*sigh* Not many people ever appreciate what or who they had until they are gone. Great poem! It makes a lot of sense and I'm sure it can relate to absolutely anyone. Well-done. :)

it's simple but still very, very true...also as I read it I recall a saying of my mother's 'You'll miss me when I'm gone'. Of course when I was a teen I never paid much attention to it, but she was right. Your poem is a powerful reminded to guard against complacency.
