This was cool how you intertwined the song titles with the rest of your writings. I really enjoyed and still do for that matter, it was a tragic waste. T
Forever I will wonder what finally tipped Kurt over the edge or was he pushed, shoved, helped or even finished off by someone else. This is something we will never know however much speculation there is.
I too have watched the Unplugged and felt that there was a nervousness about the band or maybe just Kurt? not sure, but rather than Unplugged the programme could have been called Nirvana Bare.
In some ways I felt let down by being told he was going to save us and lead us to new places then suddenly giving up. Would Christ have done this? I'm sure the evils of drugs were available in Biblical times and were a lot purer. I'm not having a pop at Kurt for his morality (mortality), more at the representation of the world today. Maybe he was indicating that we should all just give up as the path to nirvana is just too long?
Ironically the guitar riff for Come Us You Are was pinched from Killing Joke (a song called Eighties)
I could go on for hours but you are lucky as I have to go to work now. Certainly very interesting write and well put together. Sure we will talk more about this.
Curt was a great writer. Sad the best die young clique is true because sometimes I really hate truth.
Too bad also that Curt was such a needy individual but needy is in the job description for rock and roll.
Oh, by the way, 'In the Pines' is an old folk tune written by Huddie Ledbetter (Leadbelly) but you probably know that though. Nirvana did a nice job of re-doing that. Curts infuences are as interresting a his own story.
Hi Chloe, this is a very good write, a good tribute in a way, not a great Nirvana fan nor a great Kurt fan but your emotions come through in this.
a good write.
Bernie
Oh wow Chloe, this was brilliant, really! I loved the way how you incorporated some of their most popular songs into your piece, I bet Kurt would have had a fun time reading this. He He
However, I think the 5 April 1994, will be stuck in most of his fans minds for a very long time. Thanks you so much to the trip down memory lane, I think I will have to make a plan to get hold of unplugged again.
Kurt Cobain we miss you each day...what a wonderful piece to a great legend and a shaper of the current music genres. you dont have to agree with him but you have to respect him. i love the piece so much how you bring titles and lines in and out of the song, great piece.
I havent seen Nirvana unplug but i was watching the Doors the other day, i guess Jim Morison have a similar story. The drugs, the party, the life style end their lives, but the same life style was what brought their music to life. For some reason all the great artist have a great start and a sad end, what is it about them that drives them to such paths, i would think that having everything at the reach of my hands I would be happy. But their unhappiness is what got them started, what made their music come to life, and thats all we have from them now!!!.
Thank you, and I might have to go out and watch Nirvana Unplug
One!
Sometimes i feel like an alien in a strange land..can you relate?
