On That Day...A Story by Chloe..Across the Universewe were oneTuesday, September 11, 2001 America is waking to the last day of innocence as she knows it.. Those staunch New Yorkers busteling down city streets on foot, bicycles, subways, taxis, in automobiles- Some are at work, some on their way...some just shopping or running errands They all have something in common , something so horriffic so vile and evil, unbelievable.... All will share the same nightmare , as will all of America and most of the world , a never ending nightmare that still is with us all.... We know what happened. We saw it first hand or on TV....The Twin Towers held people from all walks of life from all over the world..Husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters. friends and lovers . I can only imagine their fear and too, courage...some making frantic phone calls to loved ones they had said goodbye to just hours before not knowing it was the last....heartbreaking....Those firefighters not caring of the risk try so hard to get the people out. Police officers, all the first responders do the same. Did you not feel the most sickening feeling as the first tower toppeld... then the second? Did you like me see what looked to be monstrous, evil faces in the smoke that consumed those towers, or was that just me? Did you feel a burst of pride and sadness for those on flight 93 who decided trying to over power those evil men rather than die at their plan was a better alternative? Sadness does not convey the emotions of that day...No word in my vocabulary does... For those in the World Trade Center , The Pentagon, Flight 93 , we remember ... For the way New Yorkers and Americans from all over the U.S. came together to lend helping hands and shoulders to lean on made us (most of us) proud to be Americans , and though we were anxious and just a bit afraid to go about as usual we decided this was not going to stop us , they were not going to win in such a manner, showed the world we were United, we were one, all Americans shedding our tears together and holding each other up, forgetting our differences for awhile , such a shame it took this tragedy to make us one... I, we will never forget all who perished on that infamous day- I love you, rest easy.
