To Create a Child Called Guilt

To Create a Child Called Guilt

A Poem by Patricia Posada
"

relationship issues...when you feel guilty in a relationship, because you've made so many promises....but you also know, that if you keep those promises, you will never be truly happy.

"

And I sit here waiting, always
With a broken spirit, mirroring my heart
In the ever awakening absence
The after-birth of my longing
The longing that once seemed vaporous
A sifting sheet of unknown reality...
If existent at all...
And those lips.
Those goddamn stubble-encrusted lips...
A caress to kill
And a candied tease from beyond what I once deemed unreachable.
My fingertips now seared....
And muscles straining...
Regret and realization impregnate each other...
And create a child called Guilt.
My mind a haze of stinging, a gentle throb...
As I take the hand of Guilt....
And walk with it down the passages of my condition
Hold it to my heart
Feel it breathing in my arms
One last squeeze of affection...
And my eyes open...
And I am alone.
Waiting, always, with a broken spirit
Mirroring my heart.
