Acceptance.A Story by Patrick DanielA young man is nervous about telling his father who he has fallen in love with. With a twist at the end.
A man sat down at his kitchen table reading the news on his tablet on a chilly winter morning.
As he took a sip of his coffee, his son , who was on winter break from collage walked in. "Dad... I wanna tell you something." He said to his father. The man took notice of his son standing next to the table and put his tablet down to focus on him He noticed his son seemed a bit concerned. "What is it son?" he asked as the young man took a seat next to him. "Well the truth is... I wanted to tell you that I'm dating someone at school." He said while staring at the table. "Well that's great! Who is is?" he asked. "That's the thing..." His son continued. "I've fallen for someone, and I really like them... but I need to know. If its not the kind of person you've always imagined me being with...Would you still be okay with that?" The man had an idea where this was going. His son didn't date much, and he began to think things were starting to make sense. His son was still focused on the table. Instead of answering right away, the man gave him a hug. his son embraced him as well. "You are my son." He told him. "Nothing will ever change that. and I'll be happy with whoever you love." His son let out a sigh of relief. Then they took their seats again. "So tell me..." the man said as he brought his mug to his lips. "Who is this person?" His son was smiling, his face beaming as he spoke. "Do you remember my friend Sophie? I've really fallen for her." The man choked on his coffee. "Sophie!... but, she so fat!" © 2015 Patrick DanielAuthor's Note
