ConfusionA Poem by PatrickPinkHospitals can be confusing. Especially when you don't know how you got there, and are very, very drunkm
I woke up in sterility
Surrounded by a kaleidoscope Of turquoise and green A whirling pool of concern And me Confused In the epicentre Watching projected faces circle me The animation juddering and blurring Like an old spinning drum Lit by painful bulbs (wasn't I dancing before?) (what happened to my clothes?) "What happened to you??" A good question My brain shuffled through a deck of options Trying to pick the right one But there are no Kings or Jacks here Nothing I could draw on My lips had moved without request Grinning ear to ear "I think I got run over!" I watched as I lay there, drunk, lighthearted And broken. Somebody mentioned a scan I became uncomfortably conscious Of how numb I was A brutal cocktail Alcohol Painkillers Shock A dash of confusion Left me twisted As I was wheeled in to The machines maw "You can rest now We'll wake you in the morning." I made some joke about pyjamas. © 2019 PatrickPinkReviews
