Heart of a Cardinal

Heart of a Cardinal

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

Charmed by a Valentine Cardinal on February 14, 2025.
The Sun is Bright with Passionate Light...
Looking for His Mate with dusty Rose Breasts
A Quest to be blessed beyond the Nests where Spring will
bring chirping fledglings ready to fly through Orchards of
Peaches and Green Apples
Embracing the Romance...

So good the chance upon your work in 2025, Pat. And as always, quite superbly enjoyable, Freds 🙏🏻🕊️

Always so sublime, Pat. I am too far west for Cardinals but a girl can dream:)

Indeed, not all cardinals are celibates.

A special Valentine with a Cardinal landing on your feeder with its bright red coat...revealing to you that he is king of the roost watching over "fledglings that flutter about an orchard of fruit " and ultimately return to the nest...on this special day....lovely

Patricia,
They are among my favorite birds, and they mate for life. Many years ago, we lived in a two story house with two bedrooms upstairs and one down. I guess because we were young, we moved our sleeping quarters from one room to another every few months. One time, we were awakened by a tap tap tap at the window, and when we looked, there was cardinal waking us up. He did that every day unrill we moved across the hall, and we could still hear him over there, but then, the next thing you know, there he was at our new location... followed us down stairs, too. It wasn't his reflection in the glass like we thought at first... he just liked his peeping Tom role.

I can't wait for spring when all the bugs get busy amongst the flowers and trees. The extreme cold has lost its charm on me.

I especially love the picture you used. Good stuff man.
