Painted Lady of Astors on the Avon

Painted Lady of Astors on the Avon

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

In my imagination... I fly among the Goldenrod
where purple Astors Nod and Bend and become
a Ballet of Shakespeare's Avon Aphrodisiac ...
Blue buttons bloom in Meadows where
Autumn sunlight settles on green moss...

that's some painted lady. your words do her justice.

"It would be well, perhaps, if we were to spend more of our days and nights without any obstruction between us and the celestial bodies, if the poet did not speak so much from under a roof, or the saint dwell there so long. Birds do not sing in caves, nor do doves cherish their innocence in dovecots." - Thoreau

a pretty little poem full of descriptiveness and refinemnt. and i completely understand the feeling of wanting to be that bird: graceful, unaware of its own beauty, and free.

Butterflies and flora. You paint a beautiful picture here Pat of an autumn garden. Your imagery brightens up a very cold and drear UK November morning. Mother Nature gifts generously. Have a wonderful day.

Now I must read Shakespeare's Avon Aphrodisiac. I did some research. I liked dear Pat how you gave life to the pretty words. Beautiful nature is always a blessing for us to see and know. Thank you dear friend for for the amazing words.

Soft and lovely "painted lady" dear Pat....unfortunately autumn is almost over; yet you bring it back to us in in a melodic, dancing ballet on the Avon River....so beautiful and descriptive as always....

I must admit Patricia that I am glad I read your reply to Jacobs review, as when I looked at the pic above I could swear I saw a headless Robin redbreast! 😃
Talking of Blue buttons, did you know that fields of Heather here attract butterflies, which always strike me as hauntingly beautiful, mainly because even surrounding trees and bushes are painted in a purplish glow from the Heather's spectrum of light and to see them glide and dance within it is a sight to behold! 😃
