The Calm before the Storm

The Calm before the Storm

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

A quiet day in May

"
Mid morning on a Wednesday when baby birds begin to chirp
The red cherries are ripe for Pie and the flowers sing a lullaby...
Kittens sigh and purr on pillows of clouds as seen in the Mind's eye...
The Storm can wait for afternoon Showers as the Sky may turn grey
Mothers untie their Aprons and enjoy a Siesta before the Children
return from school with their Lessons embedded in memory...
Fathers are working and looking forward to a home cooked meal
fit for a King and Queen with a Royal family thankful for a
Shelter from a Storm as Shingles on the Roof will protect their Home.
Pheasants fly silently over Fields of Corn and Wheat...  Blessings Indeed.

Indeed it never fails to amaze me how the local fauna seem to sense an oncoming storm and make ready accordingly long before us humans, and here you show the very nature of such an event through poetic imagery and discriptive visuals, beautifully penned dear Patricia, blessings indeed!

Stunning imagery. I feel such a sense of peace upon reading this. ... I especially love how you pick up the pace at the seventh line and then slow it down for the last.

Pat you must have a good attitude re: life. I've been reading through your poems and they're all so positive. I wish a little of your hopefulness would break off and land in my hands so I could then hold it in a warm embrace.

This is a bedrock poem based on family, meals together and enjoying all the blessings of God; Small blessings to me are as rich as large blessings if we are thankful with much gratitude.
I'm thankful you write poetry that inspires.
