Melodies of Whippoorwills and Owls

Melodies of Whippoorwills and Owls

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

The night was Midnight blue as we drifted into Stars where Moonbeams dream...

"
The Lightning and Thunder knew that we would discover

how Owls and Whippoorwills use feather quills to compose

Orchestrations of the Moon as we fanticize in our Dreams and

become hypnotized by the Radiance of Stars where Angels

dance to bursts of Gladiolus in Silent Melodies...

I love the owls composing orchestrations of the Moon. Owls are such magical birds and in me they inspire wonderment and awe. To just look at one is delightful in itself. You give them such a romantic touch here, dear Pat. Your poems always bring me joy of the beauty of nature and at a deeper level speak to me of the truly baffling and intricate complexities of nature. Those songs and dances happen all around us and signify the immense and abiding love of God for us. This was one midnight blue night to remember forever.

Great piece. I miss the sound of whippoorwills where I live now. I heard them almost every warm evening as a child. Here, I must be contented with the hoots of Great horned Owls and the scree of red-tailed hawks. Your depiction of being hypnotized by stars relays the feeling we get from looking at the night sky. I enjoyed.

this is beautiful, very very very good! Magical even! Oh, the night and what belongs to it, and we sleep, well most of us anyway, surely not writers. :)
