Gladiolas standing Tall Part One

Gladiolas standing Tall Part One

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

We dress in Petals of Violet and Red as though we are Guardians of Silhouettes..

"
We want to protect our Home and families

of Storms and virtual Reality... as Politicians

speak on Hallowed Ground where soldiers now

lie in Repose to gather Poppies and Prayers...

Our Homes are protected by Guns and Roses with

Thorns and Triggers that kill and destroy

our Citizens...

What can we do to ensure that there will be

Peace in the Valley...  Amen

My thought about your fine (as evermore) writing and its valuable comments is..

If War is the only response to problems between countries, their borders and all.. why has there been more than one?

When someone can give THE answer of all answers we really will be Human kind.

..................................💛
The problem I see is in the moral decay of society, the breakdown of the family unit and the absence of authority and respect in the home without the teaching of personal responsibility and good citizenship. Kids are making adult decisions while the adults act like children and nobody seems to care at all about anyone else but themselves because they were raised to believe they were all that mattered by the "me" generation. Guns aren't the problem. They make a great scapegoat though for a much deeper and more concerning problem, the lack and complete absence of decent human empathy in today's global society. If everyone had respect for the laws and one another's property and persons, guns would never be needed. Unfortunately, because of moral decline and a lack of respect for others, they are needed more than ever to protect the innocent and defend property from thieves and vandals.

You pose an interesting philosophical question here. We are taught "Thou shalt not kill," and "Turn the other cheek," but in this world we encounter individuals who, if not opposed with lethal force, will destroy all we hold dear. What can we do to ensure that there will peace in the valley? I have no answer, save to love thy neighbor, but keep your powder dry.

you speak the truth dear Pat, I find it hard to tolerate ordinary life.. with all the mass shootings, the hate crimes, the fake politics, and yes lots of emotions in divided country... we all value freedom, why can't we achieve it properly? why are in fear? you portray a scene which shouldn't be.... we need equality and peace
Very emotional....

Nice work Pat. I can’t see society getting better and the world is becoming edgy and erratic. Don’t know what the solution is?

Guns and roses, dear Pat. What a contrast and what a way to live. It seems that with every new day the media bring news of more killings of innocents by those in possession of guns who are clearly disturbed people. Our politicians and government have a duty to ensure the safety of its citizens and there is a huge failure on their part. We can hope and pray for change. The loss of life to gun crime is staggering. Give peace a chance. Sadly the politicians are hard of hearing.
