The captain drinks rum? There's no telling what harbor that ship is going to sail into. Once upon a time in real history, every sailor was allotted a certain amount of rum as part of his pay. I'd venture that made for some more than interesting voyages. The rum ration on board Royal Navy ships of the line was not abolished until 1970. Those Tahitian maidens sound fascinating. Nicely wrought poem. F.

Dreamers often find that pot of gold and the most elusive rainbow. The licorice clouds lit up your imagination so beautifully dear Pat. Thanks for this adventure in the Seven Seas and the Song of Tahitian Maidens. I truly needed it. I love your rich poetry always.

I love anything about pirates...but as I was reading this...a Crosby, Stills and Nash song came to mind.
"Wooden Ships"----
I am glad your poem dropped anchor on the board so that we could delight in sailing with it.

while reading this i imagined the ship as a person and the voyage as life, winter years of life, in some way we all can be captured by pirates at some point, and can be the rum drinking captain ready at the opportunity to drop anchor when we hear the siren song. Lovely images, thanks for the post. -carl

Those pirates were quite daring and adventurous. We are all seeking some kind of treasure; some want gold, silver, others want love, acceptance and myriad of things we all desire.
I like those adventures on the high seas. MARVELOUS!
