Tangerine Sunset Suppers

Tangerine Sunset Suppers

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

Once upon a time in late November...

I remember being with my best friend

whom is also my Husband of Heroes...

As we sipped on a Blackberry Apertiff

we watched the Sun slowly sink beyond

the Horizon held by a Curtain of Golden dreams.

The esteem we embrace as the evening sadly

settles on the movement of Earth and Birds

cuddle in Nests where feathers keep them warm...

We contemplate the Progress that Prayers can

change the evolution of destruction into a place

for People of every Creed to cultivate a Society of

like-minded Individuals to Grace our Best Books

that were written to Reunite A Nation in Peril...

To this destination... we humbly submit

our Petition... Amen

A lovely poem Pat but is this true I think sipping blackberry aperitif got you both tipsy which lead to the birds and the bees nature trail. Wink wink say no more. Of course I could be wrong!!! A little bird told me.

Thank you Kahn… “United we stand; divided we fall”. .. and so forth.
The comfort of long lived love and well read books. They say getting old is not for wimps. Yet there are certain levels of appreciation we will only know if we are fortunate enough to find ourselves in a scene like you describe here.

Thank you for staying this lovely poetry. I enjoyed the moment with your writing.

This is a lovely dream. If only we were united, but the world has never felt more divided to me.
At least in my lifetime. Beautiful poetry

I think we can have hope that the destruction we now see will resolve in time, perhaps not by prayer alone. We desperately need to come together as one or there will be much turmoil not only in our lifetimes but in future generations. We can still dream and that is comforting....I love the comfort you fine with you fine feathered friends....lovely

Dear Pat, times change and not always for the better. As we age our dreams may seem out of reach. We have to take the rough with the smooth and place our faith in hope for the future. I find my own comfort in the natural environment and my home but I worry for how my grandchildren will fare in the future. Sadly politicians these days have no backbone and can’t be trusted by the electorate to do what they have promised to do. They seem to have their own agenda. Sending love across the waves and knowing you find comfort in your avian friends. Your poetry is beautiful.

hi patricia, what an interesting & unusual poem, a prayer petition!

i particularly like these 2 lines -->>
"we watched the Sun slowly sink beyond
the Horizon held by a Curtain of Golden dreams."

I don't hold out much hope in "change the evolution of destruction", it's been happening for centuries.

thanks for sharing, cheerio carola

amen ... it is so much more draining to hold on to envy, jealousy, hate, and greed than to do the opposite .. we can start by committing those acts of charity even tho we may not "feel" anything .. it's like exercise ... if we persist in it we will gain the benefit eventually .. your poem creates such a warm, intimate scent and setting for me .. ".....Curtain of Golden dreams" ... your "..Blackberry Apertiff" ...and always your birds, dear Pat ... their nests indeed a place of warmth and comfort .. thanks for sharing my friend

There is something about being still and observant either at sunset or sunrise, allowing the stage lights to dim or begin to focus and illumine, to restore a sense of peace and balance as well as hope that encourages us to reach out and petition far what can still be!
