It threw me that the rhyme and meter lasted exactly one line, I was all warmed up to flow with more of it...
In a way, that perhaps made me pay more attention thereafter.
The theme is wonderful and natural and inviting. It makes me think you are a gardener of flowers as well as of words.

Dear Pat, you paint such a beautiful image here. I can see those sunflowers stretching their necks up to reach the sky's ceiling. I just adore their fabulous sunny faces. All is contentment in your garden of birds, trees and flowers. A hint of perfume from your roses has wafted across the pond. Just divine. All is well.

One side has a Marina at the end in calm water. On the Potomac side when it is Stormy, the water is choppy and splashing in Waves, but the Marina side is more placid. We spent many Summer days on the weekend walking along the Water’s edge on a small Public Beach. We almost bought a home 🏠 there, but it is best to be where we are for reasons. However, I have mourned the fact we almost bought a Cottage on the Placid side. Alexandra Bell had his Summer Home on the Stormy side.. now it is a Bed and Breakfast for a few people at a time… on

We are some way from the beach but close to the river. Our marina is sheltered and peaceful. We are happy to be here this weekend. The river will be noisy and busy with holiday traffic. You mentioned horse racing and you reminded me of my Dad and both brothers, ( I am the eldest of five). They loved their horse racing and we spent much time as a family doing this and also greyhound racing. My Dad owned a couple of greyhounds himself. Flyaway Paul and Wendy's Charity. You have gifted me nice memories on a beautiful August morning. Have a glorious day yourself. Sending love across the pond.
Well done Patricia. paint a great picture.
and as a bonus, I learned something new, had to go google what are crepe myrtles? Was fairly certain we were not discussing breakfast on the Rivera, but...
and before you ask, no I'm not a gardener, and while I will remember that cm's are flowers, if you showed me one in 20 mins, even after having just looked at the pics on google I as likely to say "oh what a lovely rose" lol
